What is the best thing to talk about when talking to my parakeets?

I really want to bond with my three parakeets and I researched and it said to talk to them in order to bond with them. But I have not idea of what to talk about. And some tips on how should and what to do when I’m talking to my parakeets.

Do you think I should get my budgie a friend?

I have a 1 to 1-1/2 year old budgie named Sunny. He’s very sweet and playful, but he can be shy and a little cautious at times too. He has a decent sized cage, and I get him out daily. I often just let him hang out at my computer with my while I do school work (I’m cyber schooled). Also, he’s very small, like the runt. He hasn’t grown much since we got him, and it doesn’t look like he’s ever gonna get bigger. He’s very well taken care of though, and seems very happy and healthy.

I made the mistake of putting a mirror in his cage, and he became wayyy too attached to it. He was always regurgitating to it, and all his food was piling up on the bottom of his cage :/ He also lost interest in coming out of his cage, and sometimes got a little nippy when I’d try to get him out. I took the mirror away, and he seems a little bored now. He has a nice variety of toys, and he still gets out a lot.

I’m thinking of getting another budgie though. Do you think he would get along with a new friend? Seeing how he bonded with the mirror, I think he’d be alright, but I’d hate to get another bird and them not get along. It would kill me if something happened to him. And since he’s smaller than most average budgies, I’d worry there might be a dominance issue or aggression towards him since he’s just a little guy.

I’d want another male, and I’ve read they can get along very well. I don’t want a female because I don’t wanna have to worry about mating. Also, would the males still sing? Sunny sings all the time and my mom and I love it. His songs are beautiful, and I’d hate to lose that.

I understand you have to introduce them slowly, as I’ve read up on it quite a bit. We have a spare cage that I could use with food/water bowls, perches, and toys. I know most of the main things when introducing a new bird, but any helpful tips are welcomed.

This question might seem a little dumb, but does color matter? I’ve seen some bonded pairs who are the same color, or close to it. So do similar colors bond better, or is color irrelevant?

So overall I’m just looking for opinions. Do you think I should get another budgie? Do you think two males would get along? Would his size be a problem? Would they still sing? Is color an important factor when getting another budgie? Thanks in advance! :)

can you teach a budgie to talk if it is near society finches?

i am going to get a budgie but i want to tech it to talk will it be able to if it has society finches near it { not in the same cage, or in view but can still hear each other

Does anyone believe the budgie recordings on the internet?

I have a 10 month old male budgie who speaks English. He says about a dozen phrases, like “Whatcha doin’?” “Tell me story” and “What a pretty bird”. Some phrases he uses in context, as in “bye bye” or “good morning”. He is a little bit difficult to understand, and he sounds *absolutely* nothing like any of the budgie recordings that I have been able to find online. I am, in fact, mostly convinced by my bird that many online sites are hoaxes.
Does anyone know of a reliable site with budgie recordings (I thought my bird my enjoy listening).
    Thanks.

Anyone with lots of Budgie experience?

I just got a new Budgie on Sunday. He has a great cage with toys, soothing music at all times and is kept warm. I havent tried to hold him yet, its only been 3 days and I am trying to let him settle in. He got out of his cage and I used a stick for him to step up on and he stepped on my finger. I thought everything was going well. For no reason he bent over and bit me hard and wouldnt let go. He just dug into my skin on my finger. Why did he do that? How long is it going to take to get him tame? He is very nervous, I dont know what to do. Should I leave him alone for awhile or keep going forward trying to handle him?

Does the color of a budgie affect it’s ability to talk/learn tricks?

I heard some one say that a green budgie is easier to teach to talk and do tricks, but I was wondering if they were right. If different color budgies learn things easier, please tell me which color is the easiest to train to talk/do tricks. Please Help!

My bird constantly scratches itself.I was listening to my music when I let a song play for 3 min.(rest below)?

and it continued to scratch itself!
-it bit at its toe with its beak, scratched its wings with its beak as well,it even rubbed its head against the stick it rests on to scratch !
Its a yellow and green parakeet.

Is it regular? Or should I buy it something to make its itch go away?
    I’m getting worried :(

How do you teach a parakeet to talk?

I heard that you can teach one how to talk! I dont know how so can anyone tell me how? (im not talking about a parrot)

Help with my younger Budgie?? pls?

I have 2 budgies. The youngest one is female (she has a lot of stripes on her back thats how I know) and the male one is older. I got them at the same time. She does some strange things. She seems to be healthy so i dont think thats the problem. She always chirps or sings and it sounds like crying. Its very depressing and it sounds llike she is wailing in one long song. I give them both a lot of attention so i dont know why she is doing that?
Also, she always pecks angrily at the other bird. When he tries to get on my hand, she pecks at him angrily and sits on mine. Then she bops her head up and down and has rings around her eyes and seems to be saying something to him in that crying sound. What could it be? Jealousy?
She always loves to sit on my hand and peck at it or nibble it and walk around it hyperly. what is that? does she like me or what? I really hope its not a mating ritual lol.
