   Short- on word phrases for any bird. Keep saying the sme thing over and over in the same tone and manner of speech. They mimick, so repetition is the key. When depends on the bird. Some are faster than others. When he gets one word, start on another, but keep reminding him of the first. The smaller birds do not react well to treats as reward, but do better with praise. They DO understand your words of encouragement!

   well something you say to him all the time. Like his name. Be like “name” is a pretty bird. and just keep repeating what ever word or short phrase you want him to speak. Like good-morning or hello would be good ones. the time depends on what personalit your budgie has. good luck!

   just say hello when you walk in and goodbye when you walk out

   Say one word phrases like “goodbye” and “hello” and then progress to two word phrases like, “pretty boy”, “good boy”. I even had one of my budgie’s saying, “happy birthday.” Some budgies of mine have talked in only 3 months, while others have taken 6-9 months to talk. Not all of my male parakeets have talked. The key here is to have patience and to repeat words often. Here’s a couple good articles for you:
